Business Mngrs Report July 14, 2014
Posted On: Jul 14, 2014

The Company has notified the Union that they are offering IPP B’s in three titles throughout New England. The volunteer period for this IPP will be from July 8th to July 22nd with an off payroll date no later than August 31. Any member who volunteers for this IPP B will only be accepted if a qualified replacement from surplus job titles in New England volunteers to backfill that opening. Packages have been mailed to the affected members in these titles. The locations and titles in Local 2325 are as follows: All OPT’s in Ayer, Boylston and Framingham. SST’s in Ashburnham, Athol, Union ave.  Framingham, Gardner, Hubbardston, Leominster, Littleton, Lunenburg, Maple and Forest st Marlboro, Milford, Oxford, Sterling, Townsend, Walpole and Chestnut st and Summerhill Ave in Worcester. If you have any questions regarding this IPP B please call this office.

The IPP B volunteer period has ended for AA’s in Medway. At this time there are three volunteers. We are waiting for a response from the Company on the timeframe for a canvass to replace these volunteers. When we have that information we will update this tape.

The past surplus of 381 members netted 27 volunteers and no oversubscriptions. These volunteers have left the payroll. The Union is waiting for a response from the Company on the status of this surplus. When we have that answer we will update this tape.

The Company has been conducting random safety rides throughout the Local. They are usually unannounced. They are checking to see if jobsites are set up correctly and if technicians have and know how to use their PPE correctly. Do not leave the garage in the morning without all your updated PPE. Safety is our responsibility, do not cut corners and work with defective or missing equipment. Do not let your manager off the hook. If you don’t have the proper safety equipment then you cannot work safely.

The New England Work and Family committee is once again offering Summer Camp reimbursement for dependents of IBEW members. Any dependent that goes to an approved Summer Camp could yield a reimbursement of up to $200 per week for a maximum of 4 weeks. The camp timeframe is June 22nd to August 30th and is available for children ages 5-17. This information and documents can be found on the Work and Family website. This is a great program that is free of charge and assists our members with difficult financial costs. The money used in this fund is bargained for during contract negotiations. This is a benefit that we fight for each bargaining year so take advantage of it.
