Regional Bargaining Report # 15
IBEW NY/NE and CWA District 1
Friday, July 17, 2015
IBEW New England and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Regional Bargaining Committees met with the Company today at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye, New York.
Today we presented the Company with a proposal dealing with Neutrality. We also requested additional information regarding costs associated with our collective bargaining agreements.
The Committee ended today’s meeting by expressing their anger to the Company regarding their plans to move forward with Contracting Initiatives in Suffolk County beginning on Monday.
Every member should realize this is not just an attack against our fellow brothers and sisters in Suffolk County; this is an attack against every member of the IBEW and CWA. Verizon is out to destroy our jobs and our standard of living. Every member needs to engage in the fight to preserve good Union jobs.
Bargaining is scheduled to resume on Monday.
The System Council T6 has concluded their strike authorization vote in New England. Once again the members from all Locals have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a strike in the event that we feel one is necessary.
There will be contract Rally on July 25, 2015 at 140 West St in NY City. The rally will begin at 11 AM. Members from all areas of the Verizon footprint will be joining us in the fight to protect our wages, benefits and working conditions that are under attack by this Greedy Corporation. Every member from every Local should be at this rally to send a message to Verizon. IBEW Local 2325 will be providing bus transportation. Please call the Union office to register your seat.
There will also be a Contract Rally in New England on Thursday July 30th at 6 pm in Bowdoin Square, Boston. IBEW Local 2325 will also provide bus transportation to this rally leaving from Brooks St. in Worcester. Please call the Union Office to register your seat on the bus. Members will also travel by car and train to this event. It is extremely important that this rally in New England is attended. We must show Verizon that we are ready to defend our future and our jobs. Get involved, the job you save will be your own.
