Regional Bargaining Report # 8

July 7, 2015

IBEW NE/NY and CWA DISTRICT 1

IBEW New England, CWA District 1 and IBEW Local 2213 Regional Bargaining Committees resumed negotiations with Verizon today at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye, NY.

The Company provided data that the Union requested on Healthcare and Pensions. The Regional Bargaining Committee spent much of the day reviewing the data.

Your Union teams presented proposals covering numerous issues and also asked questions regarding the data we received.

The Company will be giving another presentation on healthcare tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Local Bargaining also continued this evening with the System Council T6 passing more proposals impacting our bargaining units directly. The Company passed a few more retrogressive proposals of their own. Proposals looking to increase contracting and increase work limitations within administrative workgroups. We have also requested a good amount of data at the local table and we are waiting for some of these answers. Local bargaining will resume tomorrow.

Preparations are being made for Strike Authorization Votes to be held in all locals. IBEW Local 2325 will be holding our strike authorization votes in four locations throughout the Local on Wednesday July 8th from 10am till 6pm. The Fitchburg Social Club in Fitchburg, the Framingham Elks in Framingham, the Doubletree Hotel in Milford and the Union Office in Worcester. Voting will also continue at the Union Office from July 8th till July 15th. It is very important that all members participate in this authorization. It is imperative that we send the message to this Company that we are ready to do “WHATEVER IT TAKES” to achieve a fair contract. Let your voice be heard.

Members should plan on attending the July 25th rally at Verizon Headquarters at 140 West St in NY City Every member from every Local should be at this Rally to send a message to Verizon. The Rally will begin at 11 a.m. Anyone interested in bus transportation then please call the Union Office.

All mobilization activities should continue. Let’s show this company that we are ready to protect our future and our families.

Fraternally,

Dave Keating
